Canary In A Coal Mine

Dear Friends and Patients,

Many of you are aware of my nine year encounter with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.  It was the most powerful learning experience of my life, being totally dependent, vulnerable and powerless over my body and mind. I learned the meaning of the Footprints poem, the Breastplate of Saint Patrick prayer and held steadfast to the holy words of Scripture, Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all thy Heart and lean not on thine own understanding. Acknowledge Him in all His Ways and He shall direct thy path."

I have the privilege of being godmother to my best friend's daughter. She is Jennifer Brea, a beautiful light to humanity. For over three years Jennifer has been disabled with Myalgic Encephalitis (ME) and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).  Her mission is her life's mission... to serve humanity, as when she went to the Congo in Africa to defend people's human rights. Jennifer will use this serious illness to help others as she always does.

Already people are responding to the call to make this disabling condition known. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is real. I have experienced it and I recovered. Now I regularly witness miracles in the most “hopeless” circumstances, my life’s work is nothing short of phenomenal. Click here for Miracle Story

Faith in God and in those who cared for me, patience, grace and the will to live prevailed for me. I pray that all of these will be the driving force for Jennifer and the millions of others as they struggle each day with CFS. The love of my family, my husband, Joe, my children Kristen and Andrew, and the profound caring of you, my patients and friends will keep me grateful forever. The nine years of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome had a greater purpose for me that only God knew. I can now serve others as a more compassionate doctor having experienced this debilitating illness.
